My IT Journey: From Enthusiast to Aspiring Professional

In June of 2021, I took my first step into the world of IT by enrolling in a CompTIA A+ course. What started as a curiosity quickly grew into a deep passion as I immersed myself in the subject. The excitement of solving technical challenges and the satisfaction of mastering new concepts were incredibly motivating.

Fuelled by this newfound enthusiasm, I didn’t stop there. I immediately pursued Network+ and Server+ certifications, eager to expand my skill set and deepen my knowledge. Over the next six months, I dedicated myself to rigorous coursework and hands-on projects at the Globalnet ICT Institute. My time there was spent troubleshooting, resolving real-world issues, and completing labs that tested and expanded my capabilities.

In 2023, I decided to explore new frontiers by diving into a course on AWS (Amazon Web Services). This experience gave me a taste of the dynamic world of cloud computing and helped me understand what it might be like to work in this exciting area. Alongside AWS, I dabbled in HTML and CSS, experimenting with web development to see if it might be my niche.

Through these experiences, I've learned that IT is a vast and varied field. Whether your interests lie in project management, data analysis, or cloud computing, there's a place for you. The key is to explore different areas and find what resonates with you.

Even though I haven’t yet broken into the IT industry, my journey continues. I’ve applied for many jobs, reached out to employers via phone, email, LinkedIn—you name it. Despite my efforts, I’ve faced numerous rejections. This past week, in particular, was particularly tough, and there were moments when I felt like giving up. But why should I?

It’s okay to feel disheartened and disappointed—after all, you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t. Feel what you need to feel, and then get yourself back up and strive forward. A rejection is not the end; it’s often a blessing in disguise. Maybe it wasn’t the right opportunity for you, and better ones are on the horizon.

Keep pushing forward, stay resilient, and remember: your dedication and hard work will eventually pay off. Keep striving, because you have the power to achieve your dreams!
